About Me

Bio

Born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1988. I have moved around a several time in my younger years. Having spent 4 years in Western Australia I gained my Australian citizenship in the year 2000. Enjoying everything outdoors I made the most of my adventurous spirit.

Education

Moving around was tough, but I tried my best at everything that is in front of me. I have always had a passion for aviation so securing a scholarship for aviation at Kent Street High School in Perth, WA, was an amazing opportunity for me. However, family circumstances meant we moved back to New Zealand and I complete the rest of my secondary education in Queenstown, NZ. The adventure capital of the South Hemisphere, I made the most of everything on our doorstep, playing rugby and snowboarding in the winter and went kayaking and played cricket in the summer. School was providing me with all the adventure I needed, then it comes to an end and we have to look towards the future. I decided the adventure was not over and graduated in 2005 and looked towards enlisting in the Australian Army.

Employment

Enlisting in the Australian Army as a combat engineer in 2006. A job requiring, teamwork, initiative, respect, courage and excellence. The job required me to deploy on humanitarian and combat missions all over the globe. Helping those in need and providing support to others is the core of what the Australian Defence Force is all about.

In 2012 whilst deployed in Afghanistan, I stepped on a landmine that took both my legs and made me a bilateral leg amputee.

This is not the end of the story.

Triumph over tragedy was to come...
